Arret Wines is a boutique winery owned and operated by a young duo/couple, Rok and Maja, with a vision of producing and selling world-class quality, wines from Lower Carniola in Šentjernej, Slovenia while providing customers unique and memorable tasting experiences.
Arret Wines is more than just what is in the bottle. It is a story of a wine nerd, going all in, changing the job to fully devote his time to vineyards and wine, and creating his vision for a first-generation winery – boutique winery Arret wines.
Arete is a concept in ancient Greek thought that, in its most basic sense, refers to ‘excellence’ of any kind. A person of arete is of the highest effectiveness; they use all of their faculties—strength, bravery, and wit—to achieve the best results. And in these we believe in Arret Wines winery.
From the beginning of this story until now vineyards have been replanted with carefully selected clones of Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Welsch Riesling, Blaufränkisc, Kraljevina, Pinot Noir and Žametna črnina. The new vineyards are closely spaced and utilize a Vertical Shoot Position (VSP) trellis system with cane pruning to ensure optimal exposure of the grape clusters to sunlight
Our philosophy is simple. Our wines are a reflection of who we are, what we enjoy, and the values we hold dear. Respect for our customers, giving them something enjoyable and memorable in every bottle. Respect for our vineyards and fruit, that has been carefully and meticulously grown. And finally, respect for things to come; making wine sustainably that we can be proud of today and for the years ahead.
